Music Marketing Blog #1

My group and I began planning our music marketing project by making a google document outlining all the things we want to add to the project. This helped us organize our thoughts and visualize what to do. We began our planning by discussing the aesthetic the artist would likely have. Discussing the target audience was also very helpful so we knew who to target. Our next step was to find our artist, the original singer was a man, and we had a very clear vision of him in our heads, we needed someone we knew to be the face of the singer so we could have permission. We ended up deciding on my brother, he gave us a green light and we had our artist!

Part of our outline!

The next step was figuring out what social media platforms we wanted to use to promote our artist. We decided to use instagram as one of them. We included a bio in the app that describes the artist and can hook audiences right away. In this page fans can find updates about the artist. They can also find things such as merchandise, tours, and interviews. It's a single page with a lot of use. Brainstorming the way the social medias would look was important, we thought about color schemes to make the artist's brands cohesive. We also used Tik Tok  and made a trend, this was a challenge because we wanted the trend to be simple enough for people to participate in but also fun enough for people to enjoy. We decided on aesthetic and nostalgic videos with the song in the background, the song has the feel of nostalgia so this trend is fitting and simple. We also made a Facebook and X for extra content.

Our next step for this project was to finalize our story board and music video concept. We wanted to make sure we all agreed on the story we would tell throughout the music video. Now that we had our aesthetics and promotion strategies set, we could really dive deep into the video. We wanted our video to be a good representation of what interpret the song to be. We had a few scheduling conflict when it came to when we could film, but eventually, we figured it out. We are currently preparing for our presentation and deciding who will be presenting what. We are preparing so that our presentation can be organized and so that we don't ramble too much.
